He's a man of "action" and "comedy" and "thrillers", as movie genres, performing darkness in "Angel Heart" or light in "Stardust", the Good in "The mission" or the Bad in "Heat".
I guess not the fact that there are a lot of great, good things about him makes Robert De Niro a great actor, but the fact there is little to reproach. He marked a golden era in the past several decades and continues to gather respect and applause in the present.
